Annual Report 2024
In 2024, many new activities were coordinated between the foundation in the Netherlands and Morogoro.

I n 2024, the MSF board consisted of the following members: Y. Wilders, chairman, M. Visser, vice-chairman, H. de Boer, secretary, P. Aanhane, treasurer, E. Leyten, A. vd Lecq, S. de Jong and O. Langezaal, board members.
As of October 21, 2024, Jorn Meekel has joined the MSF board. He has already been to Mikumi several times. In 2024, the MSF met three times in the Alrijne hospital in Leiderdorp. There was also regular email and WhatsApp communication with Sr. Antusa, Dickson (administrator) and Sr. Restituta. On February 24, there was a ZOOM meeting with Antusa and Dickson, among other things, about the ER.
Mikumi
In 2024, no medical team has been to Tanzania. MSF has had many consultations from the Netherlands with the team in St. Kizito about the installation of a computer network. The hospital is obliged to deliver all invoices and other administration digitally. The patient administration and the medicines must also be included in this digital system.
The new ER building in Mikumi will be completed by the Tanzanian contractor in 2024. In 2025, the installations and furnishing will still have to be done. This furnishing will be sponsored by MSF with EUR 43,000 from the proceeds of the 30th MSF anniversary in 2023.
Also a 20 ft. container partially loaded with furniture, benches and chairs from Alrijne for the new ER building almost ready. furnishing of this ER.
In May, Henk and Hans de Boer spent two weeks in Mikumi on behalf of MSF. During that period, the laundry room was renovated so that dirty laundry is now separated from clean laundry. This was an important requirement of the Ministry of Health. With the help of MSF, the solar system of the various departments was also renovated. As a result, all departments now have emergency lighting again when the power company fails, which happens regularly. Then work can continue at night if there are emergency patients.
The nursing school (sponsored by Friends of Mikumi) at the back of the site is in an advanced stage and in the short term it will start training nurses who can then do an internship at St. Kizito.
Lugono
In May, Henk and Hans de Boer also spent a week in Lugono. Together with the people from the St. Agnes clinic, a new laundry room was built there with the help of MSF. This was also a requirement of the ministry. Here, the families of the patients can now do their laundry and it remains separate from the clinic.
There was another problem with the water. For this, MSF provided a new water pump and converter. These were purchased in Morogoro, where more and more shops are opening and therefore more and more parts are available.
The batteries of the solar panels are also starting to fail. But the energy company will probably connect to the public grid in 2025. Under the leadership of the new washing and drying room Restituta, the St. Agnes clinic is doing better and better and patients are coming from far and wide. The mother and child guidance is an important part in particular.
This project is supported by the Pieter Breek Foundation via MSF. The buildings look neat and the whole is well maintained.

MSF:
In 2024, the last Mission Auction in Zoeterwoude will have taken place. This large group of volunteers has supported MSF for many years with a donation. On behalf of MSF, the group is sincerely thanked for this contribution. MSF's spearhead has always been the training courses. Because training is always the best investment. However, few requests have been made from St. Kizito in recent years and feedback has often been difficult. MSF will try to pick this up again in 2025.
All MSF volunteers who travel to Tanzania pay their own travel expenses. All donations are (almost) entirely used for the projects.
